FAQ's

What is a medical spa?

A medical spa, or “medspa”, is a medical facility that offers health or beauty treatments that require oversight by a physician (botox, peels, infusions, injections, etc.). With that being said, often times they also salon beauty treatments as an adjunct. These might include services such as microblading, eyelash services, and facials.

I’m pregnant or nursing – what treatments can I receive?

Like many medications or products out there, most medical spa treatments are not tested on pregnant or nursing women. Therefore, we recommend waiting until you are no longer pregnant or nursing. Novo is currently collaborating with some obstetric providers in the area to provide IV fluids to pregnant women in need. If you have further questions or concerns, please contact our office.

How long before an event should I get botox?

Botox treatments take 10-14 days to take their full effect, but if it’s your first time getting the treatment or your first time with a new injector, we recommend starting 3.5 – 5 months before your event so that if you have undesired results they will be worn off before your event. If your results were perfect, then you have time to receive another treatment before the event. Otherwise, approximately 3-4 weeks prior is ideal.

Are there any precautions after I get botox?

We recommend avoiding tight hats, saunas, intense exercise, and any rubbing of your face. Taking these precautions helps your treatment to stay in the correct muscles and reduces risk of undesired results.

Am I a good candidate for IV infusions?

As long as you don’t have congestive heart failure, late stage kidney disease, are pregnant or nursing, or have a sensitivity to any of the primary ingredients (which is rare), you will most likely be approved for IV therapy.
